Markus Sworcik is an artist working with sculpture and spatial installation. His practice unfolds in shifting territories where recurring materials and symbolic forms intersect. Raw elements, standardized objects, and fragmented surfaces reappear throughout his work, often combined with speculative or distorted structures. Infrastructural fragments meet archetypal gestures; constructed volumes collide with unstable, almost fictional shapes. The works move between object and stage, between relic and prototype.
Rather than illustrating specific events, Sworcik translates collective conditions—acceleration, isolation, control, erosion—into spatial tension. Forms carry pressure. Surfaces hold residue. Alongside his artistic work, he is active as a curator and, together with René Stiegler, co-founder of trost.spc, an experimental platform dedicated to contemporary and site-responsive formats. Contradictory states—intimacy and detachment, expansion and exhaustion, attraction and collapse—coexist without resolution. Glitches, misplacements, and unwanted presences remain active within the composition.
